#MeetUsMonday :: Introducing Ben
We are so excited to introduce you to Ben, one of our newest team members! He is a Manager in our Audit & Assurance Services group making things happen in Dayton on the daily!
Not being your average bean counters, it's important to us that you know who we are, what we stand for, and the crazy things we spend our time doing when we aren't serving you! Now, get to know....
Introduce your family:
I am originally from Salem, Oregon, and I came to Ohio for college (Cedarville) which is where I met my wife. Stacey is from Lebanon, so I moved out here after college and have been in the area ever since. We have lived in Milford, Loveland, Mason, and Maineville over the past 18 years. We have two kids, Charlie and Evangeline. Charlie is almost nine years old, and loves anything where he can be around other people. As the saying goes, he has never met a stranger. Whether it be at church, farm camp, sports, etc., he is always having a great time when he can just hang out with his friends. Evangeline is six and is the complete opposite of Charlie. Until recently (last couple years), she would not even talk to anyone outside of our immediate family (this included grandparents). She is much better now, and even played softball this past summer and had a great time, but she is still very shy. Both of the kids like playing sports. Charlie does baseball, basketball, and flag football, and Evangeline does softball. Stacey homeschools the kids, so depending on the day, if you ask them they either have the best or worst teacher in the world...
What are you most looking forward to in the next few months?
I am looking forward to the snow! I hate cold weather (I am cold nearly every moment of my life), but I love snow. So, while I dread the long, cold days of winter, when it snows, it makes my day. I love being outside in the snow, playing with the kids, sledding, make snow forts for the kids, playing football, etc.
Why do you do what you do?
The most rewarding part is being able to provide assistance to others. I have had a handful of jobs over the years, certainly some better than others, but the best jobs are always those that you can see a tangible benefit to the people you are working with. Whether it be when I worked putting in paver patios, driveways, and retaining walls, to working with customers or regulators to make sure they have all the necessary documentation for their audit purposes. Either way, I was able to look back at what I had completed, and see that I had done a good job and that the client was satisfied.
Name one thing still left on your bucket list.
Visit Alaska. Of all the states in the US, that is where I would like to visit the most. I hope to one day take a long vacation and be able to enjoy the wilderness up there.
What's one thing most people don't know about you, but should?
I am a HUGE Jason Statham fan. The guy can literally not make a bad movie if he tried. Put Statham in front of a camera reading the dictionary, and I’m glued to the screen for 2 hours.
What, or who, are you a "closet" fan of?
REI. While I don't shop there too often, I love outdoor activities. If I can cheat and pick two, Lowes would probably be more realistic, as it seems there is a never-ending need to fix things around the house.
That's a wrap! We can't wait to share more about all of our team members, but since there is more to us than just counting beans we are going to take this one rockstar at a time! Until next #MeetUsMonday ... Go Make Dreams Come True!
